Typical conditions include but are not limited to: sports injuries, work-related muscle damage; joint surgery; injury from motor vehicle accidents; chronic pain; muscle/ligament sprains/strains/tears; headaches; and more.
At ALPHA Health Services we work hard with YOU to achieve your functional and wellness goals to help you lead an active life, achieve peak performance, and to encourage healthy aging. Come to us if you are searching for one of the best physiotherapy clinics in Toronto.
Massage Therapy
Our Registered Massage Therapists manipulate the superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, using various techniques, to enhance function, aid in the healing process, and decrease pain. Registered massage therapy works directly on soft tissues to loosen spastic or tight muscle fibres. As tension in muscles can cause pain, impede circulation, or can cause pressure on nerves, massage is very beneficial for people who suffer from any condition precipitated by muscle tension or that cause muscles to tighten up. Massage can also be an excellent treatment to de-stress and support self-care.
We offer various massage techniques including deep tissue, sports massage, pre-natal and post-natal massage, Thai massage, maintenance, rehabilitation, relaxation, and more.
Chiropractic Therapy
Chiropractors at ALPHA exemplify a holistic approach to injury rehabilitation and recovery. They combine the most effective techniques in manual therapy, acupuncture, and exercise prescription to rehabilitate your injury and prevent recurrence. Each treatment session is individualized and utilizes a movement focused approach to afford you the best possible rehabilitative outcome.
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
Pelvic floor physiotherapy can help individuals of all ages, and all genders, recover from pelvic floor dysfunction, a wide range of symptoms that can occur when the pelvic floor muscles are weak, too tight, or when the bones in the pelvic region are not moving properly. Conditions pelvic physiotherapy can help with include but are not limited to: Inability to prevent bowel and/or bladder leakage; Constipation; Genital pain; Urgency (a strong urge to urinate or defecate that is difficult to control); Pain with sexual intercourse; Pelvic organ prolapse; Chronic low back/sacroiliac joint pain; Pre-natal preparation; Gender confirmation (top and bottom surgery recovery); And more.
All pelvic physiotherapy appointments are one-on-one and you'll be seen by a registered pelvic health physiotherapist who has obtained the appropriate post-graduate training needed to evaluate your pelvic floor function.
Concussion Physiotherapy Rehabilitation
A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. This sudden movement can cause the brain to bounce around or twist in the skull, creating chemical changes in the brain and sometimes stretching and damaging brain cells. Injury to the neck, including soft tissue and muscle injury, as well as the vestibular system, are also common with concussions.
ALPHA's concussion program was developed by Dr. Charlotte Anderson, PhD, Dr. Jim Niu, and Dr. Alex Francello. The program combines clinical research, a multi disciplinary medical approach to care, and years of experience working with patients suffering with acute or chronic symptoms post-concussion. The concussion program at ALPHA is recognized across Canada, and is proudly affiliated with the Orthopedic Rehabilitation Institute.
Vestibular Physiotherapy
Vestibular Rehabilitation is a type of physiotherapy which aims to alleviate symptoms caused by vestibular disorders. Signs and symptoms include: Vertigo (spinning in the environment); Dizziness; Imbalance or disequilibrium; Blurry or bouncy vision; Nausea; Hearing changes; And problems with coordination, thinking, and/or memory.
Our ALPHA vestibular program is an individualized, exercise-based program intended to reduce vertigo and dizziness, gaze instability, and/or imbalance and falls. It includes a multi-disciplinary medical approach to care and years of experience working with patients suffering with acute or chronic vestibular symptoms.
Neurological Physiotherapy
Our Registered Physiotherapists are trained in the Bobath approach to neurological rehabilitation which integrates current evidence in neurophysiology with a detailed movement analysis assessment to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement. Typical conditions treated include but are not limited to: Stroke; Traumatic Brain Injuries; Spinal Cord Injuries; Multiple Sclerosis; Cerebral Palsy; Brain and Spinal Tumours; Spina Bifida; Guillain-Barre Syndrome; Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS); And more.
After an assessment, our Neurological Physiotherapists develop an individualized treatment plan based on the patient's goals. Our neurological program includes a multi--disciplinary medical approach to care looking at the neurological system as a whole, as well as how to optimize a person’s recovery in their home environment through consideration of the home set-up, home exercises, advice on seating/equipment and collaboration with community resources.
TMD/TMJ Physiotherapy
Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD), commonly referred to as TMJ disorder, encompasses a range of conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint and its associated structures. These conditions can cause symptoms such as jaw pain, clicking, headaches, and muscle tension around the jaw. Following an initial assessment you and your physiotherapist will devise a personalized treatment plan to get you started.
Here’s how physiotherapy can effectively address TMD:
--Manual Therapy: Physiotherapists employ hands-on techniques to restore pain-free range of motion at the TMJ. This includes off-loading the irritated TMJ and enabling proper gliding within the joint.
--Soft Tissue Massage and Stretching: Tight jaw and neck muscles contribute to TMD. Physiotherapists use hands-on soft tissue massage and stretching to alleviate muscle tension and improve flexibility.
--Jaw Relaxation Techniques: Training patients in jaw relaxation techniques helps release excessive tension in the chewing muscles. This relaxation promotes better jaw function and reduces discomfort.
--Addressing Underlying Issues: Physiotherapy aims to identify and address the root causes of TMD. Whether it’s postural dysfunction of the cervical spine or muscle imbalances, targeted treatment can significantly improve symptoms.
Infant / Kids Paediatric Physiotherapy (Orthopedic, Pelvic, Concussion)

Home/Community Physiotherapy
ALPHA offers home/community treatment for patients that would prefer to receive care at their home, workplace, or hospital. Our Registered Physiotherapists are highly skilled and we are proud to offer the same patient-centred care that we do in-clinic. We offer almost all of the same services in your home as we do in-clinic, including neurological physiotherapy, orthopedic physiotherapy, vestibular physiotherapy, and concussion rehabilitation (note: pelvic floor physiotherapy and shockwave/ultrasound are only offered in-clinic).
The Registered Physiotherapist who visits you in your home also works in the clinic! This means the ease of transition is seamless, should you want to switch your treatment location. Treatment in your home can be more convenient, and sometimes more beneficial, as it gives your practitioner the opportunity to use your home environment to facilitate rehabilitation and to achieve treatment goals.
